Improve connectivity

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has to improve its services. Particularly, the mobile phone services of the BSNL are very poor. Subscribers are not getting mobile phone signals, not just in remote areas but right in the heart of the city.

The phones are not getting connected during peak hours and the short messaging services (SMS) are taking long time to reach the destination. During my inquiries with the authorities,

I have come to know that the problems are due to insufficient number of signal towers.

BSNL doesn’t have many towers even when compared to private mobile phone service providers.

The BSNL authorities are requested to take necessary steps to improve the connectivity.

Costly affair

The expansion of Gannavaram airport, which is located at a distance of about 25 km from Vijayawada, should be viewed in the light of the fact that the aviation authorities are contemplating to construct an airport at Guntur.

The expansion of the airport is a costly affair, as an extent of 600 acres of land is required to take up the job. Since the land costs are skyrocketing, it could be a costly affair for the Airports Authority of India.

But, the fact is that many private agencies will come forward to take up the task, as the airport is located centrally. Once the expansion is done, flights can be operated directly to Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Tirupati from here.

Shift timetable boards

It is very difficult to read the timetable boards arranged at the East booking office of the South Central Railway. While boards are at a considerable height, the size of the letters is too small to read.

One cannot read the name of the train and its number at one glance. For senior citizens, it is a time-taking exercise to note down the name and number of the train of their choice from the board. Why can’t the boards be displayed on the wall opposite the booking counters?

This arrangement will be the most convenient for commuters, as the boards will be at a lower level.

Cumbersome task

Of late, lodging a complaint with the Electricity Department has become a cumbersome task. While answering a call, the employees at the electricity office are simply advising the callers to call the local lineman, and the lineman, in turn, is giving the telephone number of his colleague. Recently, I had the experience of calling several persons on different mobile phone numbers for the rectification of a problem in an electricity line.

I request the authorities concerned to arrange a complaint cell or help desk and publicise the telephone numbers for the convenience of public.
