House failed to address key issues : LSP

HYDERABAD: Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan on Tuesday termed the Assembly passing the Appropriation Bill for Rs.1.03 lakh crore towards government expenditure in 2009-10, without an in-depth discussion, as ‘tragic’.

Talking to the media, he pointed out that the Budget envisaged a daily outlay of about Rs.283 crore. Yet the Assembly passed all the demands without any debate on the last day of its session by a voice vote. He asserted that many newly-elected members did not get an opportunity to speak.

128-hour session

The Assembly, which was adjourned sine die, sat for 128 hours spanning 27 days .

Deputy Speaker N. Manohar said the government had given 938 answers verbally to questions raised by members, whereas written replies were tabled in respect of 152 others.
