Hooch claims 7 lives

Ambajipeta (East Godavari Dt.): Seven persons died and five others were serious after consuming illicit liquor at Rachapalem village of Ambajipeta mandal and Palagummi of Gagulakurru Agraharam panchayat on Saturday night.

According to the police, all the 12 were shifted to the Konaseema Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital and CARE hospitals and three persons were declared dead on Monday morning.

They were identified as Kolli Yedukondalu (40), Kettadi Narayana (61) and Matta Satyanarayana (41). Four others died in the evening and they were identified as Akumarthi Kondayya (38), Mummivarapu Kondayya (52), Pandu Krishna (43) and Munjavarapu Gangaraju (42).

People of Rachapalem and Palagummi villages were taken ill after consuming illicit liquor at a belt shop in Gangalakurru Agraharam. They were first taken to local RMP and PMP for treatment. After their condition turned serious they were rushed to KIMS and CARE on Sunday evening by the police.
