About 900 players will be participating in the games

NELLORE: The 54th National School Games Hockey Championship for under-17 boys and girls will be conducted in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district from December 26-30, said Collector K Ram Gopal.

The Collector along with tournament organizing committee vice-chairman Y. Chandrashekar Reddy and District Education Officer Jaleel Saheb inaugurated the logo for the games on Tuesday.

Speaking to the newsmen on the occasion, the Collector who is also the committee chairman said 30 boys’ teams and 25 girls’ teams from 23 States will participate in the tournaments. About 900 players, 125 coaches and managers and 55 referees will visit the district for the tournaments.

The district administration in association with the staff of Zilla Parishad High School, Kanuparthipadu, Education Department, School Games Federation, District Olympic Association and other departments have made elaborate arrangements for the event, said the Collector.

Vice-chairman Mr. Reddy said Information and Public Relations Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy will inaugurate the hockey tournaments at ZP High School grounds in Kanuparthipadu village at 9 a.m.

Accommodation, transportation and food arrangements have been made for the players and others attending the tournaments, he said.
