Held on theft charge

GUNTUR: A juvenile thief was arrested by the Guntur police on Saturday for corrective action. Amaravathi Circle Inspector Balashowry said that the 14-year-old boy hailing from Mogalturu in Kanchikacherla mandal of Krishna district got habituated to stealing cellphones and ornaments in several villages and towns. The police recovered 88 grams of gold ornaments, 14 tolas of silver ornaments and 15 cellular handsets from him after he allegedly stole some phones from Amaravathi on February 17 and was resorting to similar crime at Lingapuram village on Friday.

Pension sanctioned

The Lok Sabha Secretariat in Parliament House Annexe in New Delhi has sanctioned a family pension of Rs.4,000 per month to Sistla Rajya Lakshmi, widow of first Parliament Member from Guntur S.V.L. Narasimham. She had represented to Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao regarding non-sanction of the pension. The MP followed up the case and the pension was sanctioned with effect from September 2006.
