Some 100 HIV-hit children take part

KHAMMAM: Some 100 ‘positive’ children joined the semi-Christmas celebrations at the Happy Home for HIV infected orphans in the town.

‘Compassion needed’

Superintendent of Police Mahesh M. Bhagwat, who took part in the celebrations with a host of dignitaries, stressed the need for compassion and commitment to service in bringing up such children. The HIV-hit children deserved no discrimination, he stressed.

New clothes

The Happy Home has some 27 inmates. Besides them, children with HIV from different villages in 13 mandals who took part in the celebrations were distributed new clothes.

Happy Home organiser Kalpana Rani said the institution was dedicated to help the children and families living with HIV.

Parthasarathy, Judge (legal services authority), Kumar Bhaskar, Regional Transport Officer, Janaki Sharmila, trainee DSP, were among those who attended.
