Governor takes part in saint poet's vardhanti

TIRUMALA: The 507 death anniversary of the saint poet Tallapaka Annamacharya was observed on Friday at the sprawling Narayanagiri gardens amidst great religious fervour.

Governor E.S.L. Narsimhan and his wife Vimala Narasimhan also participated in the religious programme in the presence of the 45th pontiff of ancient Ahobila mutt Sri Narayana Yateendra Mahadesikan.

The processional deities of Lord Malayappa swamy and his two divine consorts were carried out in a grand procession to the venue - Naryanagiri gardens. The procession was preceded by Nama Sankeerthanam by over 3,000 artists befitting the occasion singing select compositions of the Annamayya keerthanas. The artists were specially invited from different parts of the State and the neighbouring States of Tamilnadu and Karnataka.

Later, the Governor released five devotional MP3 audio CDs rendered by Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna, Sobha Raju and other eminent singers.

Prominent TTD officials were present.
