Governor hosts Ugadi-eve fete

HYDERABAD: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan hosted a function in Raj Bhavan here on the Ugadi eve on Monday. Chief Minister K. Rosaiah, Chairman of Legislative Council A. Chakrapani and others attended the fete.

Tyagaraja Rama Saakshatkara Kritis rendered by Malladi Brothers and their father Malladi Suribabu had the audience from different walks of life spellbound.

In a brief speech later, the Governor wished the people of Andhra Pradesh a peaceful and prosperous year ahead as Vikruti Ugadi. He hoped that the new year would bring happiness as ‘prakruti' (nature-naturally). Chief Justice of High Court Nisar Ahmad Kakru, former Governors V.S. Rama Devi (Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka) and P.S. Ramamohan Rao (Tamil Nadu), Minister J. Geeta Reddy, Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad, Director General of Police R.R. Girish Kumar, State unit president of BJP G. Kishan Reddy, State unit president of CPI K. Narayana and a host of serving and retired civil servants were among those participated.
