Good response to Olympic run

Rajahmundry: World Olympic Day run was conducted on Tuesday with much fanfare, amidst a number of VIPs, college and school students. The organisers of the Run have announced that this year’s Olympic Run message is-“Move, Learn and Discover”.

MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar torched Olympic light and MLC Kandula Durgesh flagged off the run from Anam Kala Kendram, besides Godavari Railway station.

Hockey player and River Bay Resorts owner Lt. Murthy Jast, district Olympic Association joint secretary P. Rajkumar Babu, Kabbadi Association president Amarnath, Table Tennis player Sunkara Nagendra Prasad, MMG president Suryarao, Bank of Baroda Manager Syam Singh and others participated in the run along with hundreds of students.

The run culminated at Arts College grounds, where a commemorative meet of Pears D. Cambarting, who first started Olympics was held.

MP Arun Kumar garlanded the photo of Cambarting. MLA Suryaprakasha Rao in his address announced that the government is going to construct multi-purpose stadium very soon and clearances for the stadium has already given by the government.

After the meeting, students were given certificates for participating in Olympic Run.
