HYDERABAD: Shantha Sinha, chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, has been selected for the international "Goldener Feder" (Golden Pen) award of Germany's famous Bauer publishing group. This was announced by Gudrun Bauer of the Bauer group here on Wednesday. She said the award presented worldwide every year, was in recognition of Ms. Sinha's efforts in mainstreaming child labour in association with the media. The award would be presented to her in Germany by the group founded in 1875. It is one of the largest magazine publishing houses in Europe.

Ms. Bauer is a part of the German delegation of mediapersons and NGOs visiting girls and boys camps in Ranga Reddy district run by the M V Foundation of which Ms. Sinha is the secretary trustee. Ms. Sinha, who has won Ramon Magsaysay and Padma awards, said the recognition reflected the concern for education of children. It would encourage the foundation to redouble their efforts.
