‘BC representation in politics not proportional to numbers’

NALGONDA: The activists owing allegiance to the State BC welfare association district unit embarked on a district level Chaitanya Rathayatra here on Saturday to press for adequate representation for the Backward Classes in politics in proportion to the number of BCs in the population.

The association district president Chakrahari Rama Raju flagged off the yatra at the clock tower centre in the morning. Speaking on the occasion, he deplored that the backward classes were rendered severe injustice in the political arena.

The yatra meant for uniting the Backward Classes and strive to achieve due share to the backward classes in the decision making process, he said. Mr. Rama Raju also demanded that the political parties allot six Assembly and one Parliament seats in the district to the Backward Classes.

The association district general secretary V. Satyanarana and others spoke. The yatra passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and left for Kattangur mandal in the afternoon.
