Minister administers polio drops to children at Nellore; similar programmes held Statewide

NELLORE: Information and Public Relations Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy administered polio drops to children at Government Elementary School at Nippo Factory and inaugurated the Pulse Polio Immunisation (PPI) here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appeared to the parents to administer polio drops to the children aged between 0 and 5 years of age and give them a healthy life. Zilla Parishad chairman Kakani Goverdhan Reddy, MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy, Collector K. Ram Gopal, Superintendent of Police B. Malla Reddyand others were among those who administered polio drops to the infants.

‘Shed callousness’

TIRUPATI: The Pulse Polio camp in Chittoor district was formally launched in Tirupati by Minister for Health Galla Aruna Kumari by administering polio drops to a couple of babies at the camp organised at the BTR Colony in the peripheral Settipalle panchayat near here.

She called upon the parents to shed their callous attitude towards vaccinating their dear ones against polio as it would prove to be disastrous for them if neglected. Chittoor: Municipal Chairperson Sarala Mary inaugurated the programme here at T. Choutapally uraban health centre by administering oral polio drops to the children. District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Sriramulu told that 4.50 lakh children between the age group of 0 to 5 years in the district would be given polio drops on Sunday at the immunisation centres setup at different places in the district. The officers will continue to apply polio drops to the left out children in the immunization centres at their door steps on Monday and Tuesday.

KURNOOL: Deputy Mayor Abdul Razak formally launched the programme in the city at Bandimetta and Prakash Nagar. Rural Inspector Janardhan Naidu launched the programme at Mamidalapadu which was conducted with the collaboration of Rambhupal Choudary Educational Society.



‘Efficacy proven’

KADAPA: District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu administered oral polio drops to Kadapa DMHO T. Venkataramana Reddy’s grandson, Kadapa Municipal Commissioner S. Aleem Basha’s son and other children in Kadapa on Sunday in the second phase of Pulse Polio programme.

Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy administered polio drops in the urban health centre at Akkayapalle. Polio vaccine was being used for the last 55 years and its efficacy was proven, District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said and urged people not to believe in rumours.
