Awareness meet held for APPSC aspirants
VIJAYAWADA: Discipline, hard work and repeated revision of subjects will help aspirants of the Group-I and Group-II examinations conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to reach their goal, said K. Nageswar and K.S. Lakshman Rao, academicians and Members of Legislative Council.
The MLCs addressed an awareness meeting on Group-I and Group-II examinations, organised by the Vijayawada unit of the Andhra Pradesh Study Circle here on Saturday. Mr. Nageswar, who is an expert in providing study material for competitive examinations, advised the aspirants to focus on fundamentals and to begin their preparation with studying social studies textbooks of primary and secondary schools. “There is no need to be shy of revising the basics once again. We cannot remember most of what we studied in our school, but we must have a strong knowledge of the basics,” he said.
Though the revised syllabus for the examinations was not yet announced, the aspirants were advised to begin their preparation based on the draft syllabus.
Read newspapers
Mr. Nageswar said along with the prescribed syllabus, aspirants should follow the current affairs by reading newspapers regularly, so that they could get a better score in general studies and essay papers. “Cover the entire syllabus during preparation. Don’t depend on choice while studying the subject,” he added.
Mr. Nageswar said that comprehensive study of the subjects was a must and there should not be any gap in the preparation.
Those who had a thirst for knowledge and dedication towards preparation would surely get through the examination, he said. He felt that the APPSC should have a regular timetable to conduct examinations.
Mr. Lakshman Rao, who teaches political science and public administration, said candidates preparing for competitive examinations should not depend on guides and question banks, they should make it a habit to read the textbooks. “Aspirants should have a positive approach. They should follow the Government schemes and projects and gather as much information as possible from different sources,” he said.
Self analysis
Editor of ‘Udyoga Sopanam’ magazine S.V. Suresh said that the Government would issue the notification for Group-I and Group-II examinations in a month or two.
He observed that the APPSC was focusing on elimination of candidates from the fray in the backdrop of increased competition and advised aspirants to observe the new pattern of examination and syllabus as well.
“Aspirants will have to analyse their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, before planning their preparation.
Banking upon strengths and opportunities will help them a lot,” he said. Administrative officer of the Study Circle V. Himabindu presided over the meeting.
