VISAKHAPATNAM: Candidates contesting elections to the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), who wish to set up booths to guide voters, should invariably obtain a written permission from the returning officers concerned, said Police Commissioner V.S.K. Kaumudi and Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Meena at a coordination meeting with officials from GVMC, Excise and Transport Department on Saturday.

Prior permission

Vehicles with permission would be allowed up to a distance of 200 metres from the polling stations. No party or leaders should carry the portraits or effigies of leaders of other party candidates for destruction at a public place. This would result in violation of the election code. Prior permission should be obtained for use of mikes and loud speakers . Mr. Kaumudi announced that a coordination meeting with leaders of all political parties would be held on Sunday morning.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic and Security) P. Viswa Prasad, additional DCP P. Rama Rao and deputy transport commissioner S. Venkateswara Rao were among those who attended.
