Top priority to drinking water supply: Collector

KHAMMAM: District Collector V. Usharani on Tuesday wanted the officials to pay full attention to provision of basic amenities in schools and hostels as the new academic year got under way.

Addressing a meeting of officials of the various departments, she said the construction of toilets was taken up in 760 zilla parishad schools. Provision of amenities in the anganwadi centers would also be given equal importance. She also wanted the officials to consider the proposals for construction new buildings for the welfare hostels being run in rented buildings.

The district Collector said the dinking water supply would be given priority. She asked the municipal authorities to take due interest in beautification of the town besides providing the basic infrastructure.

She also stressed the need for accelerating the process for issue of title deeds to the tribal farmers under the Forest Rights Act. Superintendent of Police Mahesh M. Bhagwat, Joint Collector M.A. Azeem and ITDA Project Officer A Sharat were among those who took part.
