Action sought against police for ‘beating’ their leader

They also demand apology by Minister Dharmana

Srikakulam: Activists of the Rythu Cooli Sangham, led by Panchadi Paparao, organised a dharna and rasta rook at Ram Lakshman junction here on Tuesday demanding action against police who had allegedly beaten one B.Appalanadiu, divisional secretary of the sangham, at the rythu sadassu at Palakonda on Monday. At the rythu sadassu at the market yard in Palakonda,, Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao was about to address farmers when Appalanaidu intervened and wanted an opportunity for the farmers to speak first. An argument with the Minister followed and police dragged Appalanadiu out of the meeting and some rough treatment followed, it was alleged. Sangham leaders also wanted an apology by the Minister. The act of the Minister did not behove his stature, sangham leaders said. Meanwhile TDP leaders Kinjarapu Yerrannaidu, and Tammineni Sitaram also criticised the Minister and wanted action against police personnel responsible for beating up Mr. Appalanadu.

Meanwhile senior police officials were verifying footage of TV channels to find out whether action against police was called for.
