Fake IPS officer lands behind bars

Short hair-cut and reddish shoes are typical of a policeman. By adding safari uniform to them and hiring a few well-built men pretending as guards, 37-year-old Yadagiri led real estate businessman Govindarajulu of Malkajigiri believe he was an IPS officer for three years and allegedly collected Rs. 20 lakh assuring him of settling a land dispute.

The fake police officer's luck ran out finally when the real estate businessman knocked on the doors of Cyberabad police. With a case of impersonation, cheating, extortion and criminal intimidation registered against him on Thursday, the fake IPS officer is cooling his heels in Nacharam police station lock-up now.

The hunt is on for the persons whom the accused had hired to act as his constables, the Nacharam Inspector, S.V. Hari Krishna, said.

Yadagiri of local HMT Nagar was allegedly involved in some criminal cases in the area leading to opening of a history-sheet on him.
