NELLORE: For the first time, the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) is involving the district administrations in the fifth phase of ‘Kalyanamasthu’ (mass marriages) programme, said the TTD Executive Officer I.Y.R.Krishna Rao.

Speaking at an awareness programme on ‘Kalyanamasthu’ organised by TTD at Sri Venkateswara Kasturba Kalkshetram here on Tuesday, the EO said the officials are making elaborate arrangements for the ‘mass marriages’ programme fixed at Dhanista Nakshatram, Vruchika Lagnam, on October 28.

He said the TTD has involved the district administrations for giving more publicity on ‘Kalyanamasthu’ and for performing more marriages in presence of Lord Venkateswara.

Mr.Rao appealed to the village secretaries, Anganwadi workers, Indira Kranthi Padam employees, ICDS workers, education, health and other departments to enlighten the public in villages on ‘Kalyanamasthu’.

The EO asked the peetadipathis, purohita sangams and the village elders to cooperate for the TTD and make the programme a success.

Collector K.Ramgopal has said the TTD will present ‘tali bottu’ weighing two grams, ‘silver mettelu’, clothes, meals for 60 persons attending the marriage from either sides and darshanam of the lord for six members within 30 days after the wedding and asked the youth to enter into wedlock in ‘Kalyanamasthu’.

He asked the youth to register their names by submitting necessary documents for age proof, affidavits signed by parents of bride and bride grooms and the duplicate copies of Election ID card or ration card.

The registration forms can be submitted in the TTD offices, tahsildar/MDO or sarpanch offices by October 21, he said.

Zilla Parishad Chairman Kakani Goverdhan Reddy and others attend.
