Eight-year-old girl killed in road accident

VISAKHAPATNAM: An eight-year-old girl was killed and two others were injured in an accident at Old Post Office here on Sunday. Police said the girl and her parents and relatives came from Gudivada in Krishna district to visit places of tourist interest in Visakhapatnam. When they were waiting for a bus in the afternoon, an RTC bus hit another bus from behind and the girl, Kavya, came under the wheels of the bus, according to One Town (Traffic) sub-inspector B. Sai Satya Rao. The girl was badly injured as the wheels ran over her waist. She was rushed to the KGH where she succumbed to her injuries in the evening. Investigation was going on under the supervision of Traffic Circle Inspector (East) S.V.V. Prasada Rao.

Succumbs to injuries

The Three Town police said Ravi Kumar, 24, an Andhra University B. Pharmacy student, who was injured when his motorcycle was hit by a car at Pandurangapuram on Saturday night, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital on Sunday. The pillion-rider Rafi was injured. In another incident, Kalla Appayyamma, 60, of KRM Colony, fell from an auto in which she was travelling. She was rushed to the KGH where she was declared brought dead.

Commits suicide

A taxi driver Ommi Srinivasa Rao, 28, allegedly committed suicide at Adarshnagar in Peda Waltair on Sunday. According to the Three Town police, he hanged himself at his house when there was nobody. His wife was away at her parents’ place at Endada with their two children and his mother had gone to work. There was no apparent reason for the extreme step though Police suspect his wife’s ill health could be a cause.
