She was a fiery speaker in the Assembly: Rosaiah

HYDERABAD: Glowing tributes were paid to former MLA J. Eashwari Bai on the occasion of her nineteenth death anniversary here on Wednesday.

Daring approach

Chief Minister K. Rosaiah who participated in the programme organised by J. Eashwari Bai Memorial Trust praised the leader for her daring approach. He recalled that Eashwari Bai candidly told him she could not vote for him due to some other commitment when he sought her help in the elections to the Legislative Council from MLAs constituency in 1974. She was a fiery speaker in the Assembly, he added.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan described her as a great soul about whom he had learnt from newspapers as a young police officer in the seventies.

Veteran Congress leader G. Venkataswamy who was presented the annual award instituted by the trust said she daringly took on the police during the separate Telangana agitation in 1969.

The trust’s chairperson and Information and Public Relations Minister J. Geetha Reddy also spoke on the occasion.
