ENC holds IT security seminar

VISAKHAPATNAM: A one-day IT Security seminar was conducted at the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) with the intention of bringing together the manufacturer and end-users to ensure optimal utilisation of Information Technology whilst maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data at all times.

Chief Staff Officer (Technical), ENC Headquarters, Rear Admiral A.V. Subhedar, Eastern Naval Command inaugurated the seminar, which was attended by a large number of IT Officers and System administrators of the Command, in addition to the representatives from reputed Indian IT industries viz. M/S HP, Laser, Pari Networks, D-Link, ADC Krone, and Symbiosis Technologies.

Several technical papers related to the IT Security were presented on the occasion by the representatives from the IT industries and the ENC as well. The papers evoked keen interest as they consisted of case studies, solutions, guidelines and products to the problems frequently encountered by the ships and other units with respect to IT security.

The participants were also issued with IT pocket books elucidating the IT policies, basics of IT and security related dos and don’ts, issued by the Department of Information Technology, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy), a spokesman said.
