Over 18,000 candidates take the test

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) 2008 was held at 51 centres here on Thursday without a hitch, District Revenue Officer S. Satyanarayana said.

The test for admission into engineering was held at 43 centres in the city and 18,647 candidates out of the 19,015 registered for the test had attended.

In the test for admission into medical and agricultural courses, conducted in eight centres, 130 out of the 4,489 registered candidates were absent.

All arrangements like water and uninterrupted power supply were made at the examination centres while the city police made security arrangements. APSRTC ran special buses for the convenience of EAMCET candidates.

The candidates accompanied by their parents or guardians reached their respective examination centres much ahead of the scheduled start as the EAMCET authorities decided to strictly implement the rule that no candidate would be allowed inside the examination centre if he or she was late by even one minute.

However, there were some who rushed to the examination centres literally in the last minute.

Several candidates said the question papers, both for engineering and medicine were not tough.
