KARIMNAGAR: The delimitation of the Assembly constituencies had cost the senior Congress leaders and Ministers T Jeevan Reddy and J Ratnakara Rao dearly as both were defeated in the elections from Jagtial and Korutla Asembly segments.

Minister for R&B T Jeevan Reddy had performed a hat-trick in Jagtial Assembly segment by winning in 1996 by-elections, 1999 and 2004 general elections.

However, in this election, he lost to TDP district president L Ramana. During the delimitation of his Jagtial constituency, he lost his strongholds of Kodimial and Mallial mandals to the Choppadandi reserved segment.

Minister for Endowments J Ratnakara Rao, who had won on three occasions from Buggaram Asembly segment in 1989, 1999 and 2004, had lost the elections in the newly constituted Korutla Assembly segment in the hands of TRS candidate K Vidyasagar Rao.

During the delimitation, the Buggaram constituency was wiped out and created Korutla Assembly segment by merging with Metpally Assembly segment.

Mr. Ratnakara Rao lost his strongholds of Dharmapuri, Velgatoor and Pegadapalli mandals which were included in the jurisdiction of Choppadandi reserved segment. Besides, the Minister had also faced stiff opposition from the rebels such as Korutla Municipal chairperson Gaffoor in the segment.
