DS comes down heavily on Naidu’s remarks

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has asked Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu to desist from making comments against senior Congress leaders like Veerappa Moily for appreciating the government that struck a right balance between development and welfare.

APCC president D. Srinivas said he was “pained” at the way Mr. Naidu, who served as the Chief Minister for nine-long years, was displaying his frustration for being out of power.

Mr. Naidu’s comments would only make him weak and move him further away from people, he said.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Srinivas took objection to the TDP president’s remarks that the senior leaders from Delhi allegedly received ‘suitcases’. “If that was the case, did Mr. Naidu give suitcases to the representatives from abroad who showered accolades on his administration in the past?”

Mr. Naidu was insulting the democratic process in the country by making comments on a national party like the Congress. On the organisational plans of the Congress, Mr. Srinivas said a meeting of DCC presidents would be convened on June 9.
