Congress warns Praja Rajyam of ‘direct action’

HYDERABAD: Miffed by the repeated outbursts against the ruling party by Praja Rajyam (PR) leaders, the Congress party has warned that its cadres would resort to direct action if the ‘smear campaign’ did not stop immediately.

Taking exception to the remarks made by PR chief Chiranjeevi and Yuva Rajyam president Pawan Kalyan during their tours of the districts, senior Congress leader Paladugu Venkata Rao and APCC spokesperson N. Tulasi Reddy said the ruling party would not tolerate further mudslinging by the political novices.

Mr. Venkata Rao was irked by Pawan Kalyan’s broadside against Congress leaders during his tour of Karimnagar referring to the alleged corruption and sufferings of the people.

“Without getting his facts right, Mr. Pawan Kalyan is hitting out at the State leaders,” he remarked.

The senior Congress leader said that the PR leaders had brought disrepute to politics by making wild gestures and daring the rival party leaders.
