Spells of rain are expected in the region, according to CWC

VISAKHAPATNAM: After days of scorching heat and humid conditions indicating early arrival of summer, cloudy skies in the evenings have brought some relief to Vizagites. The maximum temperatures also fell marginally in the last two days. Tuesday and Wednesday recorded a maximum temperature of 37 and 36.4 degree Celsius, respectively. The city has been waking up to pleasant mornings darkened by cloud formations and evenings too remained cool and breezy. According to the weather forecast by the Cyclone Warning Centre, spells of rain or thundershowers are expected at a few places in the region. However, these showers will be reduced to localised spells due to high humid conditions. Cloud formations are a result of the presence of a number of favourably pre-disposed parameters such as raised humidity levels and optimum ambient temperature ably supported by concomitant smooth upward drift of hot air. According to weather officials, summer showers depend on the level of moisture present in the atmosphere and presence of low-pressure trough that precipitates the lean season showers. While Vizag is yet to receive its first summer showers, presence of clouds have raised the hopes of people. The summer rains, however, take place in short spells and last for only three to four hours. The short spells occur due to a single cell of clouds, unlike the monsoon which is caused by a chain of clouds are set up in the horizon causing heavy rains.
