Cellular firms to submit details

HYDERABAD: The GHMC has directed all the cellular phone companies operating in the city to submit all the details of their respective towers set up atop buildings within the next fortnight.

The information sought includes locations, structural design drawings of the cell towers, the building plan of the terraces on which they were installed, the agreement between the owner of the building and the company, photographs, etc.

Chief City Planner B. Purushothama Reddy who presided over the meeting on Tuesday said that the cellular firms sought some time for providing all the necessary papers.

While preliminary information should be given by next Monday i.e June 16, rest of the details will have to be submitted by June 25.

In the meantime, the engineering wing will press into service an outsourced proof checking agency to look into the structural stability of the towers and safety of the buildings concerned. The GHMC would issue clearance certificates if the towers are conforming to norms and in case of any defects, time will be given for rectification or face removal.
