CPI(M) demands judicial probe into ‘rape’

Party leader demands booking of cases against the accused under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act

VISAKHAPATNAM: The District Committee of Communist Party of India-Marxist has demanded a judicial enquiry into the alleged rape of tribal women at Balluguda village of Munchingput mandal in the district.

CPI-M District Committee secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao alleged in statement on Monday that Greyhounds personnel had entered the houses in the village and dragged out men, women and children in the most shameful manner. Children were left on the dark streets. He demanded booking of cases against the accused policemen under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act and stringent action against them.

He said that ordering a departmental enquiry would only help in saving the guilty. He demanded a judicial probe into the issue. He alleged that the Government was trying to hush up the issue by taking the name of Maoists. He demanded justice to the tribals who were victims of the attacks by Greyhounds.
