KURNOOL: Film actor Balakrishna will tour Kurnool district on February 1 and 2 campaigning for the Telugu Desam Party.

Talking to reporters here on Saturday, former TDP district president Somisetty Venkateswarlu, who will coordinate the tour, said the visit would enthuse the cadres. He hoped that the members of NTR family would turn the tide in favour of the Telugu Desam. The sole aim of the TDP and its allies was to defeat the Congress in the State.

On Praja Rajyam, the coordinator said, if the party wanted to go it alone, nobody would object to it. It would take some more time for the party to understand the ground realities of State politics. The experienced PR leaders should try and see that Chiranjeevi would not become another Vijayakanth (Tamil actor) of Andhra Pradesh.

He said, the main strength of the TDP was the Backward Class voters. They would not be lured by any kind of inducement because of their suffering in the Congress rule. Mr. Venkateswarlu said, he was willing to contest from Panyam constituency if the party high command asked him to do so.
