BSNL to release 3.5 lakh broadband connections

CGM asks telecom officials to increase subscriber base in district

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is all set to release 3.5 lakh new broadband connections in 2010-11 financial year as it had enhanced its capacity to meet the growing demands of the customers. Currently, BSNL has 4 lakh connections in the State.

High-level meet

BSNL Chief General Manager TN Sudhindra Kumar, who held a high-level meeting on Wednesday with the Srikakulam telecom District General Manager B. Krishna Sarma and other officials asked them to increase the subscriber base as the organisation had given top priority for the improvement of network in rural areas also.

He expressed concern over the drop in landline connections in the State though it could add new mobile connections in the state. BSNL has 47.5 lakh mobile in the State. Mr. Sudhindra asked them to improve landline connections by giving wide publicity about broadband connections.

Good response

“There is very good response for our broadband connections in the State as BSNL is using advanced technology for giving better services to the internet users,” he said.

He exuded confidence that BSNL would make huge profits in the current financial year though it had incurred losses in the last couple of days
