VISAKHAPATNAM: Bharat Sanchar Nigal Limited (BSNL) is providing connectivity to high-end corporate customers through EPABXs, leased lines, etc.

According to general manager of Visakhaptnam Telecom District P. Nagaraju, EPABXs were provided to APEPDCL and NSTL this year. The process of providing EPABXs to some more organisations like HPCL and DCIL was on and there were about 1,000 leased line circuits of various capacities working in Visakhapatnam.

Also, overlay access network (OAN) was being installed for all corporate customers in Visakhapatnam city that involves laying 130 km. of optical fibre cable. The operation is expected to be completed by the end of March this year, he said.

New scheme

In the cellular post-paid category, a new promotion scheme, Plan-123, was introduced with a pulse rate of 50 paise per minute within BSNL network and 60 paise per minute for other networks, he said, adding that the plan would be available till February 15.

For the benefit of group calling customers, CUG-249 scheme with 150 minutes of free calls and 100 free SMS per month was introduced on December 1 last year. A minimum of five customers is required for a group and the monthly rental is Rs.249 with a pulse rate of 50 paise a minute to cellular network in the State and Re.1 a minute to landline in the state.

Mr. Nagaraju said in the cellular pre-paid and post-paid except Excel-Anant, calls could be made for just ten paise a minute to any two BSNL phones within Andhra Pradesh (one landline mandatory) and this scheme could be activated by sending a SMS to 3733.

On the cellular network coverage, he said new cell towers were under progress near Borra Caves, Anakapalle, Steel Plant, INS Kalinga, Madhurawada and Reddy Kancharapalem .
