BSNL multi-play to be launched in three months

Rajahmundry: The BSNL is all set to launch multi-play broadband services with dedicated line in all towns within next three months. On trail basis the services are being provided to customers of Pune in Maharashtra and the same facility will be extended to all towns on demand.

Announcing this at a press conference, RMM Krishna, General Manager of BSNL, East Godavari, on Thursday said that cable TV with maximum number of channels, unlimited broadband internet services, video on demand, online gaming and other facilities would be provided in this multi-play system. The required facility would be provided to that particular customer based on his choice with the new multi-play equipment that is set top box for approximate cost of Rs.500.

Answering a question, the GM said that private providers may not provide this facility as they were going to tie up with different content providers. "BSNL can only provide multi-play with latest equipment and full fledged service,"he added. Claiming big success of Ugadi offer-free sim card and talk time on pre-paid or post-paid for one landline connection scheme, the GM said that the offer was extended up to April 21.

Dedicated landline connection for accessing Internet with monthly rent of Rs.249 with unlimited browsing was also open up to 19th and Internet connection used with calling line of Rs.250 would be given as rebate in each bill in the fist two bills. Speaking cell towers, Mr. Krishna said they had completed the target of installing 51 towers for the last financial year taking the total number of towers in the district to 81.

He said that they had fixed the target of 32 new towers, mostly in Agency area for the current year.

He said that they got good response from apartments in Rajahmundry and Kakinada towns, where they are providing landline connection for Rs.100 and free intercom facility to all flats in the apartment.
