400 applicants under Secunderabad Circle turn proud owners

HYDERABAD: All the 18 GHMC Circle offices buzzed with activity with several applicants of the Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) thronging to pay up the remaining penal fee along with submission of documents like the structural stability certificate.

Even while officials have indicated that most of the 126 new structural engineers would be issued licences on Wednesday, some licensed engineers were available at most of the circle offices making it convenient for applicants to engage them.

Chief City Planner B. Purushotham Reddy, explained that a single structural stability certificate for an entire residential apartment will do and all the flat owners can produce copies of the same for submission.

Caveat

To avoid any further litigation on the scheme, recently given conditional clearance by the A.P. High Court, Additional Chief City Planner S. Balakrishna had been sent to file a caveat in the Supreme Court.

On the first day of the BPS ‘mela’ the GHMC had put up 3,140 files for disposal pending submission of the structural stability certificate, of which 615 have been totally cleared netting an income of Rs. 1.31 crore in penal fee. Secunderabad division has cleared the highest number of applications with as many as 400 applicants turning out to be proud owners of the clearance or occupancy certificates.

Other Circles

The other Circles are way behind with Circle 10 comprising areas of Khairatabad and its environs clearing 73 applications followed by Circle 1 of Kapra area clearing 44 applications. Authorities are hoping that more number of applicants will come forward to take the final clearances in the next couple of days once taking structural stability certificate becomes easy.
