Demands explanation for ‘performing’ Sudarsana Shanti Homam in the name of Y.S. Jagan

TIRUPATI: State and district functionaries of the BJP and the BJYM have on Tuesday taken up cudgels against the Tirumala temple chief priest Ramana Deekshithulu for allegedly performing ‘Sudarsana Shanti Homam’ at Tirumala in the name of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy on the eve of his birthday recently.

The cadres led by the State BJYM president, G. Bhanuprakash Reddy and the Tirupati city BJP President, S. Srinivas held a sit-in before the TTD’s Padmavathi Guest House here today blocking the way of the Executive Officer, K.V. Ramanachary as he reached the place to attend the meeting of the Estimates Committee.

Questionable act

They also trained their guns at the Ex-Officio TTD Board Member and the Chairman of the TUDA, C. Bhaskar Reddy at whose instance the ‘homam’ was allegedly organized. Locking themselves into an argument with the Executive Officer, the Sangh Parivar leaders termed the questionable act of the chief priest and the board member as ‘an act of indiscretion’ more so when the holy ritual-- homam is supposed to be performed only for universal peace and prosperity of the entire mankind.

The city unit BJP President, Srinivas later told reporters that following persistent demand from the party cadres, the EO has agreed to call for explanation from the chief priest. He is however said to have expressed his helplessness to comply with the request for a similar action against the board member.
