Pooh-pooh party’s claim of ‘Swarnandhrapradesh’

TIRUPATI: Activists belonging to the State and the district BJP and BJYM on Sunday held a novel protest at the Gandhi statue here ‘lampooning’ the completion of four years in office by the Rajasekhara Reddy government. Donning flowers in their ears they held placards carrying slogans against the Chief Minister and what they called his ‘Madhyandhrapradesh’—a derisive remark to accuse the present dispensation of having turned the State into a ‘liquor raj’. The demonstrators pooh-poohed the Congress’ claim of ‘Swarnandhrapradesh’ and said that it was a ‘golden era’ only to the kith and kin of the Congress leaders. They also criticised the increased interference of the State government even into the day-to-day activities of the TTD and charged that it had eroded the TTD’s democratic and independent working.
