Cash award of Rs 1 lakh presented by VMDA president

VISAKHAPATNAM: Violin maestro Lalgudi G. Jayaraman was conferred with the prestigious ‘Nada Vidya Bharati’ title instituted by Visakha Music and Dance Academy, in Kalabharati here on Saturday.

M.G. Gopal, Secretary to Governor of Andhra Pradesh Tameshwar Thakur attended the programme on behalf of the Governor as he was indisposed.

While, the citation was presented by R. Kishore, CEO and director of Vizag Seaport Private Limited, MVVS Murty, one of the Founder Trustees of VMDA honoured Lalgudi with a shawl.

Secretary of the VMDA G. Gopala Sastry presented new clothes to Jayaraman. Cash award of Rs.1 lakh was presented by CSN Raju, President of VMDA who also welcomed the gathering.

A golden lotus sponsored by the Vaibhav Jewellery was presented by Sadguru K. Sivanandamurty.

Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi, daughter of Jayaraman, read out the response of Jayaraman.

G.R.K. Prasad proposed a vote of thanks.
