Auto drivers submit memorandum to District Legal Services Authority secretary

WARANGAL: Score of auto drivers staged a novel protest against bad roads in city.

They were angry with the poor condition of roads in the three towns and particularly the stretch on the Kazipet bridge between Kazipet and Hanamkonda. They took out a protest rally from Fatimanagar auto stand to Kazipet junction throwing flowers on the road all along.

Under the aegis of the Telangana Auto Drivers Union, here, the drivers were agitating for the past few days in Gandhian style to register their protest against the condition of roads in the district headquarters.

Blame game

“It is very sad that neither the Warangal Municipal Corporation authorities nor the Roads & Buildings Department personnel are bothered. They just keep blaming each other while the common man suffers,” said G. Ravi Kumar, president of the association.

Referring to the allocation of hundreds of crores for the Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway, he said that the Government is neglecting Hyderabad-Bhupalpatnam highway.

“The Government should prove that it is committed to development of Telangana by allocating sufficient funds for roads,” he said.

The association president urged the Government to constitute a coordination committee with officials from the WMC, Roads & Buildings, and the Panchayat Raj to strike a better coordination among Government departments and help fix the responsibility. The auto drivers have submitted a memorandum to the District Legal Services Authority secretary N. Krishnappa urging him to intervene and use his good offices.
