Road-laying at VSP

Y. Siva Sagar Rao, CMD of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, has launched the work on laying of roads for 6.3-million tonne expansion at the steel plant. The total length of 12 km of internal roads costing close to Rs.9 crores is being laid for easy movement of material and to meet the operational requirements of the plant in the expansion units.

Mr. Sagar Rao stressed the need for speedy laying of roads, which will be the nerve centre for all transportation needs during the expansion works.

YMCA fete for street children

The YMCA Visakhapatnam will organise a fete in aid of YMCA street children project on Sunday between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. at YMCA campus on Beach Road.

The show will have magic, dance, fun games and food stalls. Under the project, education, vocational training, sports and games facilities are provided to the children, according to a press release.

Phone bill payment at eSeva centres

eSeva centres in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle and Bheemunipatnam will accept telephone bill payment from February 15. It can be made between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on second Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

The payment for landline telephone bills, up to pay by date, are accepted in cash, local cheque or demand draft, according to a release.

Onion stock

The district administration has procured onion from Maharastra to keep its price under check, according to Joint Collector Sandeep Kumar Sultania.

KP variety onion were sold at Rs.6 a kg on Thursday and 34 MT s of big size onion received on Friday were sold for Rs.7 a kg. The stock was distributed through three mobile vans in 25 slums.

Three more loads (51 MT s) of onion were expected to arrive on Saturday and they would be distributed Rythu Bazaars and mobile vans. Efforts were being made to procure three loads every day. These measures resulted in a decline in the price of onion in the open market by Rs.2 to Rs.3 a kg.
