Rs. 5,000 will be credited to their bank accounts

Farmers will get 5.5 lakh quintals of groundnut seed

ANANTAPUR: Minister for Housing, Botcha Satyanarayana on Saturday stated that farmers of the drought-prone Anantapur district, for whom a benefit of Rs. 600 crore was already announced by the Centre in the form of agriculture loan waiver, would now get an additional benefit of Rs. 100 crore.

The additional benefit in the form of incentive would be extended to those farmers, who were not covered under the loan waiver scheme due to technicalities, at Rs. 5,000 each, the Minister said.

The incentive would be credited to their bank accounts after settling the loan waiver scheme soon. He also asked the eligible poor families who were left out of Indiramma housing scheme in the first and second phases due to any reason to apply for the benefit by June 10 in the respective tahsildars’ offices so that their cases could be inquired into and the eligible ones be sanctioned houses.

Talking to newspersons here Mr. Satyanarayana said the farmers would also be given 5.5 lakh quintals of seed groundnut this season with subsidy.

Criticising the Opposition parities for raising hue and cry over the fuel hike, forgetting the facts and keeping them away from people, the Minister said the step had become inevitable due to unprecedented rise in the prices of crude oil in international markets. The State Government had decided to bear the hike of Rs. 50 per domestic LPG cylinder to provide some relief to the 1.4 crore consumers in the State.

Personal opinion

His reported statement that the Left parties were free to withdraw support to the Centre instead of raising noise was his personal opinion and he would not talk further on that.
