“Conspiracy being hatched by a few Congress leaders to ‘politically bury' YSR family”

The suspended general secretary of APCC Ambati Rambabu on Thursday alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched by a section of the Congress leaders to ‘politically bury' the family of late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

A day after the Congress party served a show cause notice on former Minister Konda Surekha, an YSR loyalist for his outbursts against Chief Minister K. Rosaiah and party leadership, Mr. Rambabu mounted fresh attack on Congress MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's detractors.

At a press conference here on Thursday, he said: “A serious attempt is being made to send the Congress MP from Kadapa Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy out of the party,” Mr. Rambabu referred to his suspension and how those close to the MP were being systematically targeted.

Criticising the Chief Minister, he wondered as to how he could go ahead and lay the foundation stone for the YSR memorial in Nallakalva in Kurnool district when his actions were aimed at causing trouble to the late leader's family and his supporters.

Justifying his criticism of Mr. Rosaiah, he referred to similar action by party seniors against late YSR. Mr. Rambabu faulted the party leadership for issuing show cause notice by the State party. “Ms. Surekha can not be issued a show cause notice by the APCC disciplinary action committee. The job has to be done by the AICC as she is an MLA,” he pointed out.

In New Delhi, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy and Rajya Sabha member K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao were closeted for sometime discussing the political developments. They were joined by MP from Anakapalli Sabbam Hari.

Mr. Reddy, who returned to the city, cancelled his scheduled visit to Pulivendula and is expected to meet his supporters and review the situation falling out of action against his close aides. Indications are that he may not react to these actions but concentrate on continuing his ‘Odarpu yatra' in Prakasam district from September 3.
