Heavy contingent of police deployed in Karimnagar

CCTVs installed and procession to be videographed

People urged to alert police about abandoned articles

KARIMNAGAR: The district police machinery had made elaborate bandobust for the smooth conduct of Ganesh immersion in Karimnagar town on Monday by deploying huge police force.

The immersion procession in Karimnagar town would start in the evening. A total of about 250 and odd huge idols are expected to be immersed in Karimnagar town.

Security arrangements were being supervised by Superintendent of Police Y. Gangadhar with two additional SPs, two DSPs, eight CIs, 31 SIs and several hundreds of constabulary staff. Besides, intelligence, counter action teams have been deployed for the bandobust.

The police have installed four CCTVs at vital points in Karimnagar to monitor the procession. Besides, the procession will also be videographed. A reserve contingent of anti-riot squad would be stationed at the Karimnagar headquarters to meet any eventuality.

The police have cautioned people not to touch abandoned suitcases, tiffin boxes and other articles during the immersion procession. The police also appealed the public to alert the police if they find any abandoned vehicle, articles etc.


The immersion of idols would be held at Manakondur tank and SRSP canal in Chintakunta village on the outskirts of Karimnagar.

The R&B authorities have pressed into service four cranes and barricaded the area.

The Fire Services Department will deploy three fire tenders while 20 divers will be deputed by the Fisheries Department at the immersion spots. The AP Transco will provide separate power line besides keeping two generators on stand-by to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

The Karimnagar Municipal Corporation has made arrangements for lighting in Karimnagar town along the immersion procession.

The municipality is also making arrangements for supply of drinking water and maintenance of proper sanitation in the town.

The medical department will deploy ambulance and set up first aid centres at the immersion points.
