3-day tour includes visit to other controversial projects in Anantapur, Kadapa
HYDERABAD: A ten-member all-party delegation of members of the Legislative Assembly and Council left on a three-day tour to inspect the Obulapuram iron ore mines, Brahmani Steels, Idupulapaya Estates and other controversial projects that have been sanctioned in Anantapur and Kadapa districts.
The delegation left from the Assembly on Saturday evening in an APSRTC Volvo bus. After a night halt in Kurnool it will reach Obulapuram on Sunday afternoon and return to Anantapur for a halt.
The next day, the team will inspect the Trishul Cements site in Tadipatri constituency and Brahmani Steel plant site, in Jammalamadugu constituency.
Land inspection
Lands allotted to Raghuram Cements, in Kamalapuram constituency, and lands owned by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and his family in Idupulapaya estates would be inspected by the team before their return to the city on August 13.
E. Pratap Reddy, R. Padmaraju (Congress), Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao and D.Umamaheswara Rao (TDP), G.Vijayarama Rao (TRS), Nomula Narasimhaiah, C. Seetaramulu (CPI-M), Chada Venkat Reddy (CPI) and Kommireddi Ramulu (Janata Party) formed the delegation. Some others will join the entourage on Sunday will a few dropped out.
Speaking to reporters before leaving, Dr. Janardhan Reddy said the TDP had written to Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy seeking all relevant information on the Obulapuram mines, Idupulapaya Estates, Raghuram Cements, Brahmani Steels and Trishul Cements.
He alleged that the delegation was being taken after all permissions were cleared by the Union and State Governments on a war-footing. Director of Mines and Geology V.D. Rajagopal said relevant information had been furnished to the delegation.
