The mini lab set up by the directorate attracts attention of visitors

VISAKHAPATNAM: The four-day all-India Agmark exhibition which commenced at the Maharashtra Mandal here on Wednesday received good response.

About 18 stalls were put up in the exhibition being organised by the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection of Union Ministry of Agriculture to create an awareness among people about Agmark certification and the quality associated with it.

The exhibition was inaugurated by CEO of Rytu Bazaars P. Venkateswarlu who also suggested that the work agriculture added to the name of the directorate to remove confusion.

Assistant Agriculture Marketing Advisor to the Directorate at its Faridabad headquarters Lallan Roy explained about the directorate and Agmark.

Director of Bureau of Indian Standards P. Radhakrishna and others were present.

Deputy Agriculture Marketing Advisor (Hyderabad) E. Mohan Naidu explained about the exhibition and the reason for holding it here.

The stalls were put up by the Legal Metrology Department, Agmark packers, consumer organisations and others.

The mini lab set up by the directorate attracted the attention of all as the simple methods to detect poor quality and adulteration in food products was explained.

The volunteers at Legal Metrology stall explained about the way the consumer could be cheated by under weighing and other methods. The people manning the consumer education centre stall explained about the consumers’ rights and duties.
