Additional aid for SC/ST beneficiaries

KADAPA: The State government will construct houses of about 1,000 SC/ST beneficiaries, who lacked the financial means to construct the houses sanctioned in Indiramma first phase, through A.P. Housing Corporation, District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said on Saturday.

The government would sanction Rs. 20,000 additionally to SC/ST beneficiaries of the first phase for completion of houses in various stages, he told a meeting of the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting to review cases of atrocities on SC/STs. Ex-gratia to the tune of Rs. 6.12 lakh was paid to 80 victims of atrocities in 42 cases registered so far since January, the Collector said. Kadapa MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy referred to complaints from SCs that they given pattas, but not shown lands and sought development of such lands. The Collector replied that 24,000 acres of land was distributed in three phases and physical survey of 6,000 acres was yet to be done.
