Adapa Venkanna arrested

VIJAYAWADA: The city police on Thursday arrested Adapa Venkanna alias Kranthi Kiran alias Srinivasa Rao, 34, against whom the police opened a history-sheet 15 years ago, and recovered gold jewellery estimated to cost about Rs. 16 lakhs, Rs. 1.5 lakhs and two cars from him.

Addressing a press conference here, Police Commissioner K.V. Rajendranath Reddy said Venkanna was arrested by the city police and the Mangalagiri police on Thursday morning in Sivalayam Street in One-Town, when he was trying to sell off the jewellery he had stolen from different parts of the city and Hyderabad. They found gold jewellery weighing 800 grams in his possession and seized it.

Mr. Reddy announced rewards to the Patamata and Central Crime Station police for arresting Venkanna and said he would recommend reward for the Mangalagiri police too.

In another case, the CCS police and the Gannavaram police arrested Valluri Satish Kumar, 20, of Hanuman Junction on the charge of resorting to housebreak and recovered from him gold jewellery estimated to cost about Rs. 3 lakhs, three motorcycles and an equal number of mobile phones.
