Campaign for the Congress by staging plays in Nalgonda

NALGONDA: The Congress has roped in the services of several film and television actors to boost the electoral prospects of its candidates in the fray.

Tollywood actor Jayaprakash Reddy joined the party in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in Nalgonda on Saturday. He assumed the task of spearheading a campaign for the party candidates in the district to ensure their victory.

The campaign managers have devised ambitious plans to make optimum use of the services of film and TV actors to highlight the achievements of their government and counter the sops announced by the Opposition parties, mainly the Telugu Desam Party.

Film actors Jayaprakash Reddy and Chitti Babu donned the mythological roles of Yamadharmaraja and Chitragupta at a public meeting organised in connection with Dr. Reddy’s visit.

They enacted a humorous scene wherein the Yamaloka (hell) wore a deserted look and Yamadharmaraja and his aide Chitragupta remained idle following the drastic reduction of deaths due to the vigorous implementation of Arogyasri scheme on Bhooloka (earth). Another troupe comprising junior Relangi, Jenni and others performed a play titled “All free” - targeted against the colour TV promise of the Telugu Desam Party.

Young hero Raja, Vijayachandar of Karunamayudu fame, and AP State Cultural Council chairman Dharmavarapu Subramanyam and others hogged the limelight at the programme.
