ACB raids commercial taxes check-post on NH-7

ANANTAPUR: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided the commercial taxes check-post on the NH-7 near Gooty in the district on Monday and arrested a private person allegedly ‘employed’ by the staff of the check-post on the charges of collecting money from lorries passing the check-post.

An unaccounted for amount of Rs.14,300 was also seized from his possession . Acting on information that the private person engaged by the check-post staff was collecting money illegally from every lorry passing by the check-post the ACB police conducted the raid. The private ‘employee’ was allegedly being paid Rs.100 every day by the staff.

Unaccounted cash

The ACB sleuths led by DSP Venganna and Inspector A. Bhaskar arrested one Sattar Basha and seized Rs. 8,550 cash from his possession. After checking the records the ACB police also found another Rs. 5,775 unaccounted for money in the check-post. The records were also seized by the ACB police.

A report on the alleged dereliction of duties by ACTO A. Hampaiah, junior assistants Narasimhulu and Radhakrishna Reddy, assistants Chinna Kambanna and Govindappa was sent to the higher authorities by the ACB officials.
