ABVP activists arrested

VISAKHAPATNAM: Thirteen activists of Akhil Bharateeya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) were arrested on Tuesday after they allegedly broke glass panes at the Timpany School demanding its closure as part of the strike being observed in protest against the steep hike in fees by private schools.

The ABVP has given a call to all schools to observe a bandh on Tuesday to protest against the fee hike. The bandh evoked partial response.

On seeing the Timpany School functioning as usual, the ABVP activists went into the school compound and raised slogans denouncing the fee hike and demanding the management to send away students. The management tried to convince them that it was not possible to send the children home at that time.

The Three Town police prevented the situation from going out of control by arresting the accused.
