Progressive Recognised Teachers' Union seeks Presidential assent for unified service rules

ADILABAD: The Progressive Recognised Teachers Union (PRTU) on Friday demanded weightage of 5 per cent for senior teachers whose pay scale was no different from that of juniors. This anomaly cropped up as a result of the new Pay Revision Commission recommendations being implemented.

About 300 teachers, mainly from the PRTU, staged a dharna in front of the collectorate demanding the government to seek Presidential assent for the unified service rules for teachers.

The other demands included counting of apprenticeship period of teachers for the purpose of pension and appointment of eligible teachers as MEs, Dy. DEOs, DIET lecturers and junior lecturers.

PRTU State general secretary P. Ravi Kiran, State associate president D. Jeevan, district president Parvati Satyanarayana and district general secretary Satyanarayana Goud participated in the agitational programme.
