CHINTAVARAM (NELLORE): Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has said that the Government will set up 180 integrated hostels for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Backward Class (BC) students.

Addressing a gathering at Chintavaram in Chillakur mandal after laying the foundation stone for the textile and apparel park on Tuesday, Dr. Reddy said the Government had sanctioned six hostels for Nellore district alone.

Land distribution

The Chief Minister reiterated that his Government would take over those lands which had been in the possession of landlords and redistribute them to eligible landless poor. "At the same time, those people whose lands have been acquired for industries and other works will be offered reasonable relief and rehabilitation compensation," he said.

"The Government is committed to empowering women on economic front," he noted. He announced that rural youngsters of the district would get around one lakh jobs in the years to come. The mandal headquarters of Chillakur would be shifted from Gudur to Chintavaram with the advent of textile parks, he added.

Visakhapatnam MP N. Janardhan Reddy urged the Chief Minister to release Rs. 80 lakhs for the pending drainage works at Ballavolu in Chillakur mandal.
